CapitalSource Bank typically will not call or email you to ask for your personal information such as your social security number unless we are verifying a transaction that you initiated. Never divulge your personal information to anyone who solicits you in this manner unless you are aware of the specific transaction that is being verified. If you are dealing with a business over the telephone or online, it is your responsibility to determine the trustworthiness of the business and its representatives.

Phishing/Spam

This is a scam where a spam or pop-up message is sent in an attempt to obtain personal and financial information from unknowing victims. There are several ways to prevent and minimize such attacks. Learn more »

If you’ve received spam that appears to be phishing for information:

  • Forward it to spam@uce.gov
  • Please contact a customer service representative of CapitalSource Bank if you believe your CapitalSource Bank account or identity has been compromised.  You can contact us at 888.433.4272, Mon-Fri, 9 am-5 pm, or email Spam Alert.

If you have reasonable suspicions regarding the trustworthiness of the business or its representatives, you should report it to the Federal Trade Commission. If you suspect you are a victim of identity theft, you must complete the following four steps immediately.

  • Place a fraud alert on your credit reports and review your credit reports. The contact numbers for the credit reporting agencies are:
  • Close the accounts that you know, or believe, have been tampered with or opened fraudulently in your name.  Please contact a customer service representative of CapitalSource Bank if you believe your CapitalSource Bank account or identity has been compromised.  You can contact us at 888.433.4272, Mon-Fri, 9 am-5 pm or email Deposit Accounts.
  • File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. You can file online complaint at Identity Theft Complaint Form or FTC's Identity Theft Hotline at 877.438.4338.
  • File a police report and get a copy of the report.
