Tad Lowrey has been Chief Executive Officer of CapitalSource Bank since its formation in July of 2008. Additionally, he was elected Board Chairman in October 2012.
Previously, Mr. Lowrey held positions as chairman, chief executive officer, and chief financial officer for several financial institutions over nearly three decades in banking. He was President, CEO, and Director of CENFED Financial Corporation (1991–98) and President, CEO, and Director of CenFed Bank from 1990 to 1998; a Director of Golden State Bancorp/Glendale Federal (1998); Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Jackson Federal Bank in Fullerton, CA from February 1999 until its acquisition by Union Bank of California in October 2004; and Chairman of Wedbush Bank, a federally chartered savings bank, from its inception in February of 2008 through July 2008 as well as Executive Vice President of Wedbush Inc., a Los Angeles-based financial services investment holding company, from January 2006 until June 2008.
Mr. Lowrey has served as an elected Director of the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco since 2006 and currently is Vice Chairman. He previously served as a Director from 1996–1997 and 1999–2003 and was Vice Chair in 2003. Additionally, Mr. Lowrey is a member of the Executive Committee and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the California Bankers Association and a member of the Government Relations Council and American Bankers Council of the American Bankers Association.
Mr. Lowrey has served as Vice President of the Thrift Institutions Advisory Council to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve Bank (2003–2004); a member of the Savings Association Insurance Fund Industry Advisory Committee to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (1996–1998); Director of the Western League of Savings Institutions (1993–1997 and 1999–2001) and Chairman of its Board in 1996; a Director and Executive Committee member of America’s Community Bankers (1997–98 and 2001–05); and a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of LaVerne (LaVerne, CA, 2002–2013) and Board Vice Chairman from 2005–2009.
