As the Managing Director and Head of the Real Estate group at CapitalSource, Chris Kelly manages the origination of commercial real estate debt and mezzanine investments. As a portfolio lender, CapitalSource origination activities target investments in transitional real estate typically sponsored by owner/developers and private equity groups. CapitalSource lends against all types of commercial and residential properties in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
As a 21-year commercial real estate finance professional, Mr. Kelly has extensive experience in real estate debt, mezzanine, and equity markets. Prior to CapitalSource, he was a Managing Director and Founding Member of CDC Mortgage Capital where he was primarily responsible for the origination of senior and mezzanine loans. Previous to CDC Mortgage Capital, Mr. Kelly was a Vice President at Lehman Brothers where he originated interim and permanent debt products for the Fixed Income group. Prior to Lehman, he spent over eight years in the real estate division of Heller Financial in both Chicago and New York. At Heller, Mr. Kelly was involved in numerous activities including the origination of a wide array of senior and mezzanine debt of all types of commercial real estate. Additional roles during his tenure at Heller included construction asset management for several high profile New York City developments and equity investments in single family and multi-family developments.
